Hi! My name is Cara and I am unsurprisingly from Glasgow’s East End. I am currently a student studying HND Media and Communications at the City of Glasgow College.
I wanted to create this blog because I feel that the east end of Glasgow has a really bad name. While it is a little rough around the edges the east has a lot of heart, an amazing sense of community and some of the nicest people you will ever meet within it.
The East End has a rich history. From the part that the Parkhead Forge played in making weapons for the war effort right up until the first TRNSMT festival which was held in Glasgow Green. The East end has helped shape the multicultural melting pot that is Glasgow in 2018.
The east end is currently in the middle of a total makeover partly thanks to small businesses like restaurants and clothing stores setting up business in places like Duke Street and also the rejuvenation project that has been put in place by Glasgow City Council has seen Barrowfield completely made over
Not only have we seen a change in the way the East End looks but also how it dresses. Glasgow is home to some of the best-dressed people in the UK and a lot of these well-dressed wegies come from the East End of the city.
This blog will showcase the best of the best in what is going on, who is wearing what and what happened when in Glasgow’s East End stay tuned.
Glasgow is less polite than Edinburgh but thats a good thing- they keep it very real — Nik Kershaw
